Jean Furman: From Accounting to Opera

Jean just graduated as a Dual Degree student from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University, majoring in Voice and Finance.

Jean has performed throughout the U.S. and internationally, and even sung numerous times as a soloist at Carnegie Hall. She has performed with the Boston Lyric Opera, the Commonwealth Lyric Theater, Lucky Ten Young Talent Studio, Jewish Musical Theater Firelech, and the Cleveland Institute of Music among others. Recently, she performed the role of Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen with the Commonwealth Lyric Theater, the lead in Glass' and Moran's The Juniper Tree, and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte with the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has also executed major roles in Le nozze di FigaroWest Side Story, and Pirates of Penzance. During her education, Jean received the The Boris Goldovsky Prize in Opera for outstanding operatic performance and the Dean’s Achievement Award for excellence in scholarship and leadership. She is excited for her next career steps whichever way those may lead.
