TEDx Beacon Street: Uncertain Times Call for Uncertain Math
Masha Gershman, our Director of Outreach was invited to talk on the TEDxBeaconStreet stage in 2017
Read MoreTheir research presentation, titled, One Classroom, Multiple Paths: How Work Habits Predict Academic Achievement in Differently Paced 7th Grade Students, examined how well classwork and homework behaviors predict academic success among Grade 7 students in RSM's online math program.
To conduct their research, they split students within one classroom by learning pace, revealing two distinct groups with differing success-related behaviors, despite sharing the same level-supporting more targeted and differentiated instruction.
This year's team included RSM faculty: Maria Kosogorova, Oksana Ilina, Sona Antonyan, Manasi Singhal, Jenya Brodskaia, and Anna Mirny; Larry Ludlow from Boston College; and RSM students: Anjie Chen, Matthew Chen, Rohan Danda, Samuel Gurevich, Anran Liu, Alice Ma, Matthew Macera, Lielle Rifkin, Chiara Sardi Rogines, Tarun Venkatesh.
RSM students received great praise for their presentation, their composure handling audience questions, pacing and timing of their slides, and their overall understanding of the topic. We could not be more proud of their contribution to the larger educational research community!
