Team RSM Wins 1st Place at MMATHS 2024
We are beyond proud to announce that the Math Majors of America Tournament for High Schools (MMATHS) was a great success for our RSM competing teams this year!
Read MoreThe competition season kicked off in October with the Stanford Mini Math Meet (SM3). Out of the 53 teams and 200 participants, Team RSM placed first overall and first in the Treelay and Puzzle Hunt rounds. RSM students Steven Brody, Leo Abu-Ghoush, Oliver Abu-Ghoush, Lakshman Prabhu, Gavin Kaza, Maxim Mavliev, Aryan Milind Naik, and Aarav Sahu helped their teams secure this impressive achievement.
SM3 was held at Stanford University and its aim is to provide an engaging math event for middle school students.

RSM students competed at the Mustang Math Tournament (MMT) where the RSM teams placed third in the 7th and 8th grade divisions. The RSM 7th grade team was led by Ayan Kolachalama, Charles Sokolov, Derek Fu, and Leo Silverman, and the 8th grade team included Archisha Niyogi, Bryan Chang, Nikhil Prakash, and Rianne Chen.
The Mustang Math Tournament is a nationwide competition for middle school students, bringing together top young mathematicians from across the U.S. and around the world. More than 1,500 students participated in the 2026 contest.

RSM students continued their impressive streak of competition scores on the American Mathematics Contest (AMC) 8, where every 8th RSM participant scored in the top 5% on this contest.
The AMC is a challenging and prestigious national competition, administered by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Recommended for students in grade 8, the AMC 8 consists of 25 problems, all based on knowledge and logic.
RSM students Elle Mathew and Gaolin Xue were awarded Young Women in Mathematics Awards & Certificates from the MAA. This award celebrates the achievements of young women who excel in the MAA AMC and inspires other young women and students from underrepresented groups in mathematics to participate in these exciting competitions.

Students who perform exceptionally well on the AMC 10 or AMC 12 are invited to continue participating in the MAA AMC series of examinations that culminate in the selection process for the USA International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) team. The first in this series is the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME). In 2026, 84 RSM students qualified for the AIME, including: Arthur Li, April Mei, Liesel Park, Ujaan Sanyal, and Ritam Sen.
This series of competitions is followed by the USA Mathematical Olympiad and Junior Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO and USAJMO). 11 RSM students qualified for the USA(J)MO, including: Toprak Celikel, Siri Chennareddy, Yuvraj Chennareddy, Samarth Das, Omar Graia, Neil Iyer, James Nama, Soham Samanta, Hansen Shieh, Anand Srinivasan, and Patrick Zhou.

The competition season continued with the International Math Contest (IMC). This year, over 20,000 students participated in this competition at RSM branches around the world. The IMC features thought-provoking problems based on leading math curricula from around the world, allowing participants to benchmark their knowledge against international standards.
At the Brown University Math Olympiad (BrUMO), Team RSM placed first overall in the Middle School Division. RSM students Ashkan Syed, Olivia Cheng, Raesha Chen, Rianne Chen, Ryan Lu, and Viraj Harish led their team to this victory.
Hosted by Brown University students, BrUMO is a math competition for middle and high school students designed to foster an inclusive environment where young students can learn and challenge themselves in math and critical thinking.

At the Johns Hopkins Math Tournament (JHMT), Team RSM secured 2nd place. This team consisted of Paarth Bansal, Ria Vartak, Aryan Naik, and Ashkan Syed. Additionally, Paarth Bansal, a Bay Area MCP student, earned first place in the Individual Round with a perfect score. This remarkable accomplishment marks the second year in a row that RSM students have achieved a perfect score and earned first place in the individual competition.
JHMT is an annual, student-run math competition designed for middle and high school students globally.

RSM-MetroWest and NMCP student Bryan Chang earned 2nd place at the Acton-Boxborough Math Competition (ABMC).
ABMC is uniquely designed such that every participant can solve a sizable portion of the problems. The difficulty ranges from that of simple arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric problems to that of the AMC.
RSM teams across the United States had great success at Purple Comet! Math Meet, a team mathematics competition designed for middle and high school students conducted annually since 2003.
In the Middle School Mixed Team division, two RSM teams tied for first place and five RSM teams earned Honorable Mentions for the United States. In California, two RSM teams tied for first place; in Connecticut, an RSM team secured second place, in Massachusetts, three RSM teams tied for first, and in Washington, an RSM team placed second.
