Celebrating Success: Douglas Zhang is RSM’s Youngest USAJMO Qualifier

Douglas Zhang, a 4th grader from RSM South Orange County, is RSM’s youngest qualifier for the prestigious USAJMO!

Douglas joined RSM South Orange County in 2021 and he has demonstrated incredible commitment, care, and a great passion for learning. Douglas won the IMC Gold Medal in 2024, received the Honor Roll of Distinction on the AMC 8 and 10, was eligible to take the AIME in 2025, and ultimately qualified for the United States of America Junior Mathematical Olympiad (USAJMO) this year!

The USAJMO is the final in a series of math competitions for middle and high school students, run by the American Math Competitions (AMC). Students must take the AMC 10/12 and qualify for and pass the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) in order to be eligible to participate in the USAJMO. Only 150 to 230 students qualify for this renowned and rigorous challenge each year and doing so as an elementary school student is an incredible achievement!

Congratulations Douglas, we’re so proud of your hard work!
